Grace is the epitome of a curmudgeon, loudly meowing to protest any hand that comes in her direction for a gentle pat on the head or touching of the fur. When she became like this, I don't know--she was adorable at the shelter when we picked her out as a kitten. That was the last time she was sweet and it has been 12 years of her reign as the "no pet" grumpy old woman. Sigh.
This is my Grumpy Grace, as I call her. And sometimes, if I'm lucky, she will allow me to love her.

She is beautiful, but I can see the grump written all over her face.
Sometimes I feel grumpy, too. Especially when Harley will not stop pestering me. So maybe it is all Hobbes' fault.
That face, those eyes have the look of "get off my lawn".
Oh, Grumpy Grace! I love you. Your expression reminds me of our dearly missed Simone. She had some grumpy days and was not afraid to let us know about it.
Awww, she is just sooo... cute. She sure looks like a happy cat. I love the look on her face. She doesn't have a care in the world. Thanks for sharing Lin.
She's a cat! She can't let on that she loves you, it's against the cat rules!
Oh, even though she is grumpy, she is beautiful!
I have an old gray cat that FINALLY became quite the little love bug when he turned, oh, about 12. Now, he is an indoor cat and just purrs and purrs and loves to sit on my lap! :)
Hope "Grumpy Grace" allows you to pet her more eventually.
Grumpy Grace and I have a lot in common!
Wen
I have two like her.
I for one love Grace's wonderful gray coat of fur! she is a gorgeous cat!
Puma is the same with me. He is almost 10 now and it's nearly impossible to get him to do anything other than what he chooses!
Happy WW:-)
She looks and acts like me before the coffee kicks in.
Oh, you can just feel the grumpiness exuding from the computer screen from that look. Poor Grace, she's so misunderstood.
Grumpy Grace loves you, and deep down inside she wants you to pet her -- but it's been so friggin' long that at this point it's just to late to give in. She'd look silly... and cats, as you know, will NOT let themselves look silly.
She is beautiful.
I had a grey cat once. Named Ghost. He was gorgeous. Long haired. He was with me a long time. Then he got tail cancer.
I loved Ghost.
*sigh*
He was a touch grumpy too. He was feral and I tamed him.
I was going to say Grace looked like Sophie, but Sophie was never grumpy. She was a lover, not a grump. Lol!
DG--Her face says it all, doesn't it?!
Daisy--Yes, first it was Ruth's fault, then Henry's and now....Hobbes. We started to think Grace "offed" the other cats!
Jodi--Oh yeah, she has a very expressive face and it is NOT happy.
JD--Like what do they have to be grumpy about??? Geesh, my life should be so tough.
Michelle--Now you are one optimistic woman there, Michelle! I think her face says "I'm gonna scratch your eyes out if I have half a chance."!
Buggys--That's true. When I had my hernia surgery, she was at my side the whole time I was recovering. Or she was copping my body heat.
A. Marie--I don't think she's gonna have a mid-life change or anything. In fact, I think she is getting grumpier. Ugh.
Karen--She'll let me pet her, but that's IT! She is a one-woman cat.
Wendy--Oh, NO WAY! You are NOT grumpy Wen. At least I don't think so!
Helene--And what exactly do they have to be grumpy about?! I don't get it.
Jackie--She is a pretty cat. I can tell she's getting older this year as she is a bit thin. And she's getting grumpier, if that is possible. Good to know I am not alone in this.
Chuck--Do you hafta wear a collar with a bell too? ;)
Casey--Oh, I think I understand her all right--I get to keep my eyeballs if I don't touch her. That face speaks very clearly. :)
Cute--You are very right on your theory. Every so often, she'll forget herself and hop on my chest for a little love--but that lasts for about a minute and a half. Sigh.
Pricilla--Oh, I'm sorry to hear about Ghost--that sounds just awful! You and I are very alike with our kitties--I love them all.
Lola--Yeah, day one, Grace was GREAT. Day two and onward, not so great. She has her moments, but they are rare.
Wishing you and the Astro's good luck @ WIU! I really enjoy this one, and regret not being able to go. Here's to great weather! Fran's Dad
Yep, she does look like a grump!
Grace is giving you "the look". Pretty is often like Grace. I am the only one she tolerates. Aren't cats the bestest?
Her expression is so funny here. It's like she's saying, "What are you doing lady? Move back." She's pretty though.
Maybe us folks named "Grace" have a tendancy to grump...
Grace is very beautiful and it looks like she has a pretty collar too! She does look grumpy though.
A great demonstration of the differing personalities of cats. I had a cat that would bite anyone who came near. A little on the feral side. After I somewhat tamed it, the cat would only bite other people. Not me as long as I was careful. When he learned that he liked to be petted, he would reach out claws first to pull a human hand towards him. Needless to say, not many people tried to pet him, a second time.
Grumpy is a personality. Thats the one she feels most comfortable with. I think she is great. Grace is true to her self and I guess you embrace her as she is. Obviously you two understand each other and get along well - 12 years. wow!
Fran's Dad--There isn't any other band in our category so it's a lame win, but we are going against the whole line-up for Grand Champions again. I hope we have some competition overall--it's been a lame year for contests sadly.
Violet--The face says it all!
Merry--And then Hobbes is like lovey goodness on my lap sopping up the cuddles. Go figure. Cats are the bestest, Merry.
Petula--Yep, I swear she is thinking of clawing out my eyeballs. Never does, but I think if she could talk, she would cuss a lot.
Grace--Nah, I don't believe it Grace. :) I think it is a ruse to weed out the riff-raff.
Beaded Tail--She is pretty, but untouchable. She is referred to as the "no pet" pet. I mean, that is her whole job to let us pet her, so what gives?
Ratty--So he was a demanding guy too. That's funny! I like how they hone in on one human to allow petting. Sheesh.
If I were a cat, Grace and I would get along famously.
Maybe Grumpy is my middle name. Cardio Grumpy Girl, at your service.
Awww what a nice post. I just lost my kitty this week - you can see my post on the front page. Nice to see a good kitty story - gave me a smile. :)
Grace looks like my kind of cat. And your description verifies this truth.
Philly--I think you are right--it is working for her, isn't it?! And I always defend her so I guess that's why she sticks with me. Wow, a new SMART pally!!
CG--I think I'm grumpy too most times and that's why we get along. When the kids were little, Grace and I would hang out away from the kids sometimes (when Dad was home). I think it was nice for both of us and that's why she clings to me now. Mom minus kids equals Grace on lap.
Katherine--I know all too well the heartache of losing a kitty. I'm soooo sorry that you lost your Buddy, I'm sure you are devastated. I'll say an extra prayer for you both today. :(
Vanilla--See that look? She looks like that ALL the time. Like she wants to bite you or perhaps just scratch your eyeballs out. She doesn't, but she sure thinks about it!
