2009 Marching Astros - "Carmen"

Hee! Haw! I found this on youtube last night. Okay, so there was ONE performance of the Marching Astros that didn't entail freezing temperatures and/or blustery rains. I hope you stick it out to watch the full show--I know, 10 minutes is a lot to give, but true marching fans will stick it out.

The music was fun this year. "Carmen" just reminds me of the original Bad News Bears movie.

Hey, Happy Weekend, pallies. Live good and breathe deep. I'm gonna be indoors and toasty--away from cold bleachers, freezing rain, and damp grass. Me and Hobbes can be found under a warm blankie next to the fireplace.

I just watched the whole thing-quiz me.
The only time I get my marching band fix is at the 4th of July parade and even then they are from Canada or Chicago south somewhere. That was cool to watch from further above.

Awwwwwwwwww Hobbes the cuddle bunny. I'll be out trick or treating with Alex, the kid who is allergic to costumes-just won't wear one.

Happy Halloween everyone!

I just LOVE the genius who decides a light pole needs to be installed smack dab blocking the view. Fran's Dad

Nice show! I realy enjoyed the drill in the third piece.

Now tell me what happened to the one guard girl's equipment...is she injuried or forgetful?

Think of me tonight while you are inside warm and I am outside in the very moist cold fall air on a wet cold bleacher :-)

Wow! They are great! I've never seen such great precision and sounds at the same time. I gained a huge respect for marching bands and the talent they all have to possess to make it work.

Enjoy your cuddle time and stay warm!

Oh Wow! They are GOOD!

I am jealous...I want to cuddle with Hobbes! Do you rent him out, you know, like a Netflix movie? That way, I could keep him as long as I wanted! LOL! :)

Warm and dry sounds good.
Hope you enjoy your quality time with Hobbes Lin :)

That's quite a show! Is that the drum major on the platform? We never did anything like that in my [small] HS band (over 50 years ago).

I think I'll pop some corn and watch the X-Men movie. Much rain and raw weather here. Yuck!

Man, I don't have the speed to watch youtubes well. They play for a few seconds and then more downloads and so on. It's VERY frustrating.

*sigh*

Carmen, though, reminds me of ice skaters.

That was amazing.

i think the drum major just flipped me off.

and i wish the sound quality was better, cause I can tell that rocked in person.

and booo no judge was creamed in the process. ;)

did one girl march with no flag the WHOLE show???

oh be still my heart, i love drumlines!

thank you for sharing and helping me feel warm and fuzzy remembering MY high school years!!!

No wonder you're all so proud and they did so well. I can always hear our band practice when I sit on the porch since we live so close to the school, have a Happy Halloween and great weekend.

Under a blanket in front of the fireplace with your cat sounds wonderful to me! That's my kind of evening.

Helene--Parade marching and field marching are two very different birds. I LOVE field marching and could watch it for hours--and I do! In the cold. Ugh. I wish they had climate control viewing on barco loungers.

Fran's Dad--What is with that POLE???! Arrrghhhh. That annoyed the crap out of me.

Jodi--NOOOOO! You aren't still going, are you?? Poor thing. I liked the drill in that one too. That girl got her hand slammed in the car door or something--couldn't move her hand. Some say we shouldn't have her air spin, but he chose to use her. I'm not sure if that hurt us or not.

Chocolate--It's amazing to watch. And it's hard to record because you have to shoot so darn far away. Did you see the sun???

A. Marie--Oh, I think I miss it already. :) I couldn't afford the delivery fee of shipping Hobbes, sorry. I think it would max out a truck!

Vanilla7--I just took home all of the guard outfits to wash and dry. I guess I'm not on the couch as much as I would have liked after all.

Chuck--Lots 'o rain here too. Sigh. Yes, that is Ted, Dream kid extraordinaire. He won a ton of awards for his performance as Drum major. He is a very talented musician.

Pricilla--Okay, you get the mulligan.

Lola--Did you see the sun?? I think that was the last time it was out.

Stacie--Yes, he did flip you off. And your mother too. :) LOL! That girl hurt her hand and couldn't use a flag--I think that hurt our scores, but I'm not really sure.

Jude--Oh, you should go over and watch them in person sometime. Marching bands are amazing to watch.

Karen--Me too! Especially with Hobbes, he is very cuddly. Happy Weekend, pally.

Lin, "air spinning" doesn't hurt at all. Better than a hole on the field.

PS Oh ya and we are still going. Going to find out tonight if we go yet another week and then another week and another week...till Thanksgiving weekend. It's cool being undefeated but I am running out of steam.

Jodi--One judge did make the comment that perhaps she should have been sidelined. And I thought of you as I brought home 16 colorguard uniforms to launder today. And 70 plus collars that need to be bleached. Ugh. Should I pray for a loss for the team???

I enjoyed the video, Lin.

Happy Halloween and have a great weekend.

That made me so wistful for those days. I really love when the lines cross through each other.

Good stuff, Lin!

Just love that marching band version of Carmen!

No way, now I can see the coolness that is your kid's band! I didn't watch the ENTIRE thing (sorry) since my SIL is here and I'm hiding in the bathroom with the laptop blogging in secret. Hehe. She's off to the airport soon so I'll be able to live my bloggy life in the open again.

Love the band. Too cool seeing what you've been gabbing on about all this time. ;)

Veronica--Only you would truly watch the video because I asked. You are a true pally, Veronica!

Violet--Yeah, me too! Did you make it to the 3rd song where they cross with the colorguard and their flags?? Gees, I get all misty-eyed when they do that. Does that make me an official loser??? :)

Patricia--The music is hard to hear because of the location of the microphone, but it was lovely. It was extra great in the gym where it was LOUD and well-balanced.

Casey--All the more reason to watch the WHOLE thing! I really have to say that the 3rd song is the best. It's very dramatic. Maybe you can save that for when the in-laws stop by unannounced. :)
