Monday, Monday

Em has this pink poodle that sits on her bed. Her room is pink, her bed is pink, her pillows are pink. It is a regular pink-0-rama, her room. And for some odd reason, Hobbes LOVES this room. Maybe it has something to do with the fact that it is the warmest room of the house, but he is completely oblivious to the pinkness. Can't find Hobbes? Look in the pink room. There he sits, on Em's bed doing his Burt Reynolds pose.

But, he hates that pink poodle. HATES it. Beats the bajeepers out of it at every chance he gets. He grabs it by the neck and drags it under Em's bed to his secret lair. I'm not quite sure what he does with that poor thing under her bed, and I don't think I want to know--I just know it ends up there.

Every so often he can be seen biting the pink poodle by the neck, rabbit-kicking the hell out of it. He makes leaping attacks from across the room and angrily pounces on the helpless stuffed toy. I don't know why he hates this thing so bad, he just does.

I'm kinda like that with Monday's. So the sun may be shining and the week is starting off fresh--I just have attititude on Monday. I don't want to get up early. I don't want to answer to my clock alarm. I don't want to dress up nice for work or drive anyone anywhere. I don't want to work. I don't want to pick up Em. I don't want to make supper or do laundry. Monday just stinks.

You'd think the beginning of the week would be bright and full of promise. Starting the week off fresh and having a positive outlook and all that jazz. Nope. Not me. I don't like Mondays, as my fav tune goes. But I'm not shooootting the .... whole.... day...... down--I'm not that hateful. I just am grumpy for most of the day, that's all.

I'm not up for this Monday either. It snowed--big snow, heavy snow yesterday. My newspaper sat IN the curb, full of soggy wet snow, and I had to put on boots to go get it in my jammies. Ugh. It was cold and I actually had to put on my winter coat again to go shopping. I was discouraged, needless to say--Spring had peeked in for a few days and now? Gone. Ugh.

Now I face Monday, grumpy from the weekend, tired of the cold, and there is something wrong with my car that prohibits the heater from heating the beast up. Great. Now that I'm working there is no time to get it fixed and I'll be freezing all the way to work....all week. Sigh.

Grump. Grump. Grump. I have come to the conclusion that Mondays are the Pink Poodles of the week. I don't care how "cute" they are, how they just sit there doing nothing harmless to anyone--it is that they are just there. And I hate them for that.

If I could, I would rabbit-kick it all the way to Tuesday.

Would you believe that I love Mondays? I do!

This is, bar none, the best imagery I have experienced in 2008 and 2009:

"...rabbit-kicking the hell out of it."

Way to go on painting a picture! If I could do it, I'd give you the Gold Star of the Day over here.

No ma'am. Blogger doesn't like my coding.

Note to Blogger: You're a betch.

I'm with you regarding Mondays. Good story here.

I am not a Monday person either. I can just picture you and Hobbes side by side rabbit-kicking your nemeses (I had to go and look up with the plural of nemesis) to bits.

Good luck getting through Monday. If we did away with it, Tuesday would be the new Monday and then we'd hate those too.

Mondays are a strange thing. I still hate them as much as I did before, even though I don't have to wake up early nowadays or even necessarily go to work. Also get Hobbes' feelings for the pink poodle. :D

lol...that is great.

Our cats are always on the upstairs beds, too!

I'm sure there are lots of folks out there who'd agree with you. I've been taking a sort of mental poll lately during my am hall monitoring duty at school. Every morning I stand in the same place and greet each student. And every morning I get eye contact and a smile at the very least. Not Mondays though. They are dragging and the energy just isn't there. Which is good because I really don't feel like telling them hello on Mondays either!

We have some horrible pink plush dog that someone bought for the Pudgy Princess (the corgi), who's never even looked at it. The cats on the other hand, and even the rabbit drag that thing around and attack it.

It must be a cat thing. You have to hate pink dogs if you are cat.

Oh, you can keep your snow. I've had enough of it. Blech!

Yes, I think Hobbes is pretending that he has attacked a ferocious beast and wrestled it to its death. Our orange kitty, Milo, had a stuffed cat that he would try to nurse on its nose! Funny creatures, those cats.

Oh, and I fixed my goof on my Today blogs. I thought I had you on there, but I didn't. Sorry!

Good, because my dog and my cat have been hating each other for 7 years. Miss Meow Meow still hisses at the dog and Callie growls when the cat is near her food. And I scream at them when they fight because all I want is world peace.

Violet--No WAY! Maybe it's just the haze from the weekend clouding your brain until Tuesday comes. Or it's like childbirth--you forget the pain after awhile.

Cardigan--Oh, you liked that part? I thought you'd be all over my Boomtown Rats reference! I'll take the Gold Star--in spite of stupid Google blocks. Oh, and 2009 just started....I've got lots more imagery coming. And it's not all good.

Diane--Yeah, sister! When are you posting again? Hmmm? P.S. Go Terry!!

Merry--I have a dictionary next to the computer for the same reason! Now if only I could kick Monday's butt like Hobbes does the poodle!

Casey--Crap! You're right. Darn. Tuesday, the New Monday. That's what I should have named the post!

Laala--There's just something about the weekend being over. Sigh. It's just sad no matter what you've got going on Monday.

Stacie--I can see you hate Monday too.

Lidian--I think it's that the bedrooms are warm and quiet. Heck, given half a chance, I'd be there all day too!

Nancy-- How nice that you smile and say "hello" like a Walmart Greeter! What is that called? Hall Greeter? Do you have to do recess duty too? Or bus duty? I know teachers hate that stuff.

Storm--Hobbes has killed Em's Hoops and YoYo too--you know, the Hallmark guys. Their little noses are coming off, but they keep smiling. He must be a bully or something--he hates all those cute little guys.

Sherri--Oh that's funny what Milo does! Our cat Henry would hump his blankie every single night and "sing" about it. He would get it out right after we all went to bed, and you could hear him and his blankie going at it in the living room. If we saw him, he'd get all embarrassed and slink away. Of course, we'd all crack up and make it worse for him. We'd lie in bed, listening to him and Blankie, and I'd start singing Barry White tunes to make Joe laugh. Yeah, cats do the weirdest stuff!

You just need to find your own big pink poodle for you to rabbit kick around.

the poodle is smelling the cat's butt. just look at her. hobbes is within his rights to beat her up.

i hate mondays too, but thursday is the real b**ch.

Carl--Maybe they're just "communicating". We all know people who communicate like that! :)

Lola--Yeah! Like Joe! Or the kids! Great idea!

Natural--Oh yeah, look at that! Here I am giving Hobbes crud for picking on a poor helpless toy! Sheesh. Pink Poodle has soooo got it coming. How come Thursday for you?

I had to chuckle about the way you described Hobbes and that poodle! Funny! As for Mondays, I hate them too which causes me to start dreading them on Sunday which ruins my Sundays.

Lin said...

Tail--Which leads to hating Saturdays, which lead into Sunday...and pretty soon we just hate the whole darned week. Except for maybe Friday, when we get paid. Sigh.

I'm with you on the Monday thing... the bad thing is that my grumpiness starts on Sunday night in anticipation of Monday.

Hey, maybe he doesn't like it because it gives him a funny look. LOL. :)
